Redcar Fishermen and Boats, 1968 - Memories of Redcar

At various times, certain members of Redcar Council and then Teesside Council tried to get the boats removed from Redcar sea-front and to stop fishermen selling fish from their boats. Despite initial failures of these campaigns, for one reason or another there are far fewer boats on Redcar sea-front and far fewer fishermen.

My father campaigned against what he saw as the persecution of Redcar's fishermen. Here are two examples from a large archive of press-cuttings on the subject.
